Hiya! My name is Analise England and I am a freshman here at the University of Rhode Island. I was born in Providence and grew up in a relatively small town called Smithfield where pretty much everyone knows everyone. So, as many of you can understand, it has been quite a transition coming to a college with such a large campus. Each day, however, I am looking less and less like a lost puppy because of the people I’ve met, the confidence I’m gaining and the daily routine I find myself falling into. I aspire to major in elementary education and biology. For as long as I can remember, I have always had such a passion for working with children and those with special needs. My mom has been such a tremendous inspiration to me for she has been working with autistic, disabled, and mentally challenged children for the past 10 years. From her, I have learned to be patient, motivated, understanding and persevering.
I have also been an athlete for a majority of my life. Hot summer weekends were spent at the softball field, late nights were spent at the track, and each time, my family was there along for the ride. I am so thankful for the support that my parents and relatives give me and not a day passes by that I take them for granted. I have an extremely strong passion for softball and a love for running track, cross-country and recently throwing javelin. Along with these interests, I also enjoy photography, hanging out with my friends, going on adventures, traveling and I am an avid Pinterest crafter. Also a part of my family are my two dogs. Holly, a beautiful, snuggly chocolate labrador and Clover, a fat little puggle. Not seeing my family each day has definitely been an adjustment, but it has only made me appreciate them that much more.
One weird fact about me is that I have two really bent pinkies…I’m sure you don’t hear that every day. I used to be a little self-conscious about them but over the years I have grown to learn that they are a part of what makes me unique. Another fact is that my mom is from England and coincidentally that just so happened to be my last name. I have never broken a bone but my candy eating days have caught up to me leaving me with five wonderful cavities. On another note, I am so excited to see what the future has in store for me. Through late nights, early mornings and pure determination I am confident that I will find success and a love in what I do.
